Is the Marcomanni the same the Markomannoz in the DEI Augustus campaign? I recently started a very hard campaign as them. On top of this, you have emergent factions spawning sometimes with heavily veterenized elite troops, many more horde armies that are huge moving through your territories, much more allying up of barbarian factions when compared to Attila, a terrible faction leader (although he can be sacrificed early to stop his appalling traits), many of your generals are Pagan which makes them give negative public order to Christian cities and vice versa for the Christian generals, army desertions to the rebel faction are common, your starting economy is in tatters due to a terrible trade network, ERE will betray you at some point and their economy is pretty good allowing them to field decent armies and plagues can cripple your economy even once you've got it going.
